Welcome!

My name is Kytsunei, and I am developing a virtual reality game. I am currently working on this game by myself as a game studio (Fox Alchemy) of one, but I'm lucky enough to get great feedback from friends and family, and I hope this blog will become another source of valuable feedback in the future.

Before I have readers giving feedback, however, this blog will help me document and organize my thoughts on the development process. For this entry, I'd like to try and give a (hopefully) concise overview of my game. This may be kinda tricky, though.

I've been immersed in the hobbyist game developer community for a few years now, and the majority of people who say they are working on a game will be able to explain to you, in vivid detail, the intricate workings of their game's backstory. I fall into what I think are the minority group, who are building a game in search of a game-feeling, rather than looking to tell a particular story.

The feeling I'm looking for is that lethal thrill found at a light-gun arcade machine like Time Crisis, and that tactical adrenaline dump that hits you when watching a John Wick movie. Games that get you into that zen mental space even during wild, chaotic battles, have always been some of my most prized experiences. I am eager to share something fun with people who feel the same!

Now, the setting and graphics are secondary to that pursuit of that sweet gameplay, but my wheelhouse has always been mythology and magic symbolism. I'm gonna stick with that, and coat a great gun-fighting game experience with a layer of hard magic and demonic-flavored foes.

So far, my game is in the alpha state, meaning that it's still a ways off from even being a demo. The visuals are mostly placeholder while I work on the underlying mechanics, so the in-game footage will look a little haphazard, but with some of the concept art I plan to upload, you should be able to get an idea of what I'm going for.

Next post I'll get a little deeper into what's been built so far, and and overview of the next few items in line to be built next. Until then!
